Sluggish demand drags down nickel futures by 0.42%

Nickel futures were trading lower during the morning trade in the domestic market on Wednesday as investors and speculators exited their positions in the industrial metal amid sluggish physical demand for nickel from major consuming industries at the domestic spot market.
The prices of nickel slide due to trimming of positions by participants in the industrial metal amid fall in physical demand from alloy-makers at domestic spot markets. At the MCX, nickel futures for November 2016 contract is trading at Rs 694.30 per kg, down by 0.42 per cent, after opening at Rs 696, against a previous close of Rs 697.20. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 693 (at 10:36 hours).

Mentha oil futures slide 0.40% on diminishing demand

Mentha oil futures were trading lower during the morning trade in the domestic market on Wednesday as participants remained on the sidelines in the agri-commodity amid subdued physical demand for mentha oil from major consuming industries in the domestic spot market.
Further, trimming of positions by traders in the spot market due to slide in demand for mentha oil from consuming industries at the domestic spot market against sufficient stocks position on higher supplies from producing regions, influenced mentha oil prices at futures trade.
At the MCX, mentha oil futures for November 2016 contract were trading at Rs 948 per kg, down by 0.40 per cent after opening at Rs 956, against the previous closing price of Rs 951.80. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 945.50 (at 10:31 hours).

Uptick in demand lifts cardamom futures by 1.46%

Cardamom futures were trading higher during the morning trade in the domestic market on Wednesday as investors and speculators build up fresh positions in the agri-commodity amid uptick in physical demand for cardamom in the domestic spot market. Further, insufficient supplies on restricted physical arrivals from the major cardamom producing regions, too supported the uptrend in the domestic cardamom prices. At the MCX, cardamom futures for November 2016 contract is trading at Rs 1275 per kg, up by 1.46 per cent, after opening at Rs 1256.40, against a previous close of Rs 1256.60. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 1275 (at 10:27 hours).
