Aluminium futures fall on ease of demand

Aluminium futures were trading lower during the morning trade in the domestic market on Wednesday as participants indulged in trimming their positions in the industrial metal amidst fall in physical demand for aluminium in the domestic spot market. Further, a drop in demand for aluminium at the domestic spot market was due to exiting of positions by traders in the spot markets, influenced aluminium prices at futures trade. At the MCX, aluminium futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 111.10 per kg, down by 0.18 per cent, after opening at Rs 111.40, against a previous close of Rs 111.30. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 111.05 (at 10:39 hours).

Zinc futures drop 0.60% on sluggish physical demand

Zinc futures were trading lower during the morning trade in the domestic market on Wednesday as investors and speculators exited their positions in the industrial metal amid sluggish physical demand from consuming industries at the domestic spot markets. Further, participants indulged in trimming their bets in the industrial metal due to slide in demand from consuming industries, influenced prices of zinc at futures trade. At the MCX, zinc futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 156.50 per kg, down by 0.60 per cent, after opening at Rs 156.85, against a previous close of Rs 157.45. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 156.50 (at 10:27 hours).

Subdued demand drags down nickel futures by 0.28%

Nickel futures were trading lower during the morning trade in the domestic market on Wednesday as investors and speculators remained on the sidelines in the industrial metal amid muted physical demand for nickel from major consuming industries in the domestic spot market. The prices of nickel fall due to exiting of positions by participants in the industrial metal on account of subdued physical demand from alloy-makers at domestic spot markets. At the MCX, nickel futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 680.10 per kg, down by 0.28 per cent, after opening at Rs 681.90, against a previous close of Rs 682. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 679.90 (at 10:27 hours).

Mentha oil futures surge on spot demand

Mentha oil futures were trading higher during the morning trade in the domestic market on Wednesday as participants extended their positions in the agri-commodity amid uptick in physical demand for mentha oil from major consuming industries in the domestic spot market. Further, building up of fresh positions by traders in the spot market led by an increase in demand for mentha oil from consuming industries at the domestic spot market against insufficient stocks position on restricted supplies from producing regions, supported mentha oil prices at futures trade. At the MCX, mentha oil futures for October 2016 contract were trading at Rs 895 per kg, up by 0.19 per cent after opening at Rs 894.10, against the previous closing price of Rs 893.30. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 896 (at 10:27 hours).

Aluminium futures gain on spot demand

Aluminium futures were trading higher during the afternoon trade in the domestic market on Friday as speculators built up fresh positions on uptick in demand from consuming industries in the spot market. Analysts said fresh positions created by participants following pickup in demand from consuming industries in the spot market, mainly influenced aluminium prices at futures trade. At the MCX, aluminium futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 107.80 per kg, up by 0.09 per cent, after opening at Rs 108.20, against a previous close of Rs 107.70. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 108.25 (at 14:22 hours).

Nickel bears rule the roost

Nickel futures fell during noon trade in the domestic market on Friday as investors and speculators exit positions in the industrial metal amid weak physical demand for nickel, from alloy-makers, in the domestic spot market.
Traders weighed mixed US economic data as existing home sales rose 3.2 per cent in September, a leading index climbed 0.2 per cent last month but jobless claims surged by 13,000 last week, the biggest increase since July.
At the MCX, nickel futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 672 per kg, down by 0.47 per cent, after opening at Rs 674.9, against a previous close of Rs 675.2.It touched the intra-day low of Rs 671.3. (at 12:56 PM).

Zinc higher after ECB decision

Zinc futures rose during noon trade in the domestic market on Friday as investors and speculators booked fresh positions in the industrial metal amid a pickup in physical demand for zinc in the domestic spot market.
Further, sentiment improved after the European Central Bank (ECB) at a meeting on Thursday refrained from tinkering with interest rates and kept its bond buying program unchanged but indicated that its QE program may run past the scheduled end-date of March 2017 as it looks to trigger a sustained rebound in Euro area inflation and boost growth with risks to the outlook still tilted to the downside.
At the MCX, zinc futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 152.5 per kg, up by 0.10 per cent, after opening at Rs 152.7, against a previous close of Rs 152.35. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 152.75 (at 12:31 PM).

Aluminium futures were little changed during the morning trade in the domestic market on Tuesday as participants remained on the sidelines in the industrial metal amidst subdued physical demand for aluminium in the domestic spot market.

Further, widening of positions by traders in the spot market led by a rise in demand for mentha oil from consuming industries at the domestic spot market against insufficient stocks position on restricted supplies from producing regions, supported mentha oil prices at futures trade.
At the MCX, mentha oil futures for October 2016 contract were trading at Rs 924.20 per kg, up by 0.47 per cent after opening at Rs 916, against the previous closing price of Rs 919.90. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 930.30 (at 10:09 hours).

Uptick in demand lifts cardamom futures by 0.45%

Cardamom futures were trading higher during the morning trade in the domestic market on Tuesday as investors and speculators build up fresh positions in the agri-commodity amid uptick in physical demand for cardamom in the domestic spot market. Further, insufficient supplies on restricted physical arrivals from the major cardamom producing regions, too supported the uptrend in the domestic cardamom prices. At the MCX, cardamom futures for November 2016 contract is trading at Rs 1135 per kg, up by 0.45 per cent, after opening at Rs 1134, against a previous close of Rs 1129. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 1139.50 (at 10:04 hours).

At the MCX, aluminium futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 111.65 per kg, down by 0.27 per cent, after opening at Rs 111.95, against a previous close of Rs 111.95. Nickel futures were trading lower during the morning trade in the domestic market on Thursday as investors and speculators exited their positions in the industrial metal amid muted physical demand for nickel from major consuming industries in the domestic spot market. The prices of nickel fell due to trimming of positions by participants in the industrial metal on account of slide in spot demand in the domestic spot market. At the MCX, nickel futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 697.20 per kg, down by 1.33 per cent, after opening at Rs 702.20, against a previous close of Rs 706.60. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 696.80 (at 10:30 hours).

Cardamom futures were trading higher during the morning trade in the domestic market on Thursday as investors and speculators build up fresh positions in the agri-commodity amid uptick in physical demand for cardamom in the domestic spot market. Further, insufficient supplies on restricted physical arrivals from the major cardamom producing regions, too supported the uptrend in the domestic cardamom prices. At the MCX, cardamom futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 1185 per kg, up by 2.29 per cent, after opening at Rs 1170, against a previous close of Rs 1158.50. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 1185 (at 10:23 hours).

Nickel futures little changed on rising demand

Nickel futures were little changed during the afternoon trade in the domestic market on Tuesday as investors and speculators build up fresh positions amid rising demand after the Philippines widened a crackdown on miners, thus raising supply risk.
As per the UBS Group AG report, about a 10 per cent of the world’s nickel supply is at risk after the Philippines widened a crackdown on miners.
Last week, the Philippine government threatened to close another 14 mines. At the MCX, nickel futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 688 per kg, up by 0.04 per cent, after opening at Rs 687, against a previous close of Rs 687.70. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 692.40 (at 14:13 hours).
