Muted demand bites nickel futures

Nickel futures were trading lower during the morning trade in the domestic market on Wednesday as investors and speculators indulged in trimming their positions in the industrial metal amid a slide in physical demand for nickel from major consuming industries at the domestic spot market. Further, nickel prices fall due to offloading of positions by traders in the industrial metal amid downtick in physical demand from alloy-makers at the domestic spot markets. At the MCX, nickel futures for November 2016 contract is trading at Rs 742.50 per kg, down by 0.35 per cent, after opening at Rs 738, against a previous close of Rs 745.10. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 735 (at 10:33 hours).

Mentha oil futures drop 3.80% on diminishing demand

Mentha oil futures were trading lower during the morning trade in the domestic market on Wednesday as participants trimmed their positions in the agri-commodity amid fall in physical demand for mentha oil from major consuming industries in the domestic spot market. Further, cut down of positions by traders in the spot market was due to decline in demand for mentha oil from consuming industries at the domestic spot market against sufficient stocks position on higher supplies from producing regions, influenced mentha oil prices at futures trade. At the MCX, mentha oil futures for November 2016 contract were trading at Rs 937.20 per kg, down by 3.80 per cent after opening at Rs 969.10, against the previous closing price of Rs 974.20. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 936 (at 10:27 hours).

Sluggish demand drags down cardamom futures by 1.12%

Cardamom futures were trading lower during the morning trade in the domestic market on Wednesday as investors and speculators remained on the sidelines in the agri-commodity amid downtick in physical demand for cardamom in the domestic spot market. Further, sufficient supplies on higher physical arrivals from the major cardamom producing regions, too influenced the downtrend in the domestic cardamom prices. At the MCX, cardamom futures for November 2016 contract is trading at Rs 1,340 per kg, down by 1.12 per cent, after opening at Rs 1340.20, against a previous close of Rs 1355.20. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 1340 (at 10:21 hours).
