Caution keeps bullion little changed

BULLION: DOWN TREND
Gold futures were trading flat, with a negative bias, in noon trade in the domestic market on Monday as investors stuck to a cautious approach ahead of comments from officials from major global central banks which will offer fresh cues over monetary policy outlooks in developed economies, while the focus was also on the outcome of the first debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, the top two contenders for the US presidency.
Fed Chair Janet Yellen will speak this week even as uncertainty continues to surround the timing of the next US interest rate hike while European Central Bank president Mario Draghi may offer fresh hints over whether the Frankfurt-based central bank is likely to bolster monetary stimulus in the coming months to help prop up the 19-member Euro area economy.
At the MCX, gold futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 31,272 per 10 grams, down by 0.03 per cent, after opening at Rs 31,236, against a previous close of Rs 31,281. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 31,211. (At 12:56 PM).


Lead futures drop 0.12% on weak demand

LEAD: DOWN TREND
Lead futures were trading lower during the noon trade in the domestic market on Monday as participants cut down their positions in the industrial metal due to a fall in physical demand for lead, from battery-makers, in the domestic spot market.
Further, a decline in demand from battery-makers in the domestic spot market, influenced prices of lead at the domestic spot markets. At the MCX, lead futures for September 2016 contract is trading at Rs 127.20 per kg, down by 0.12 per cent, after opening at Rs 127.10, against a previous close of Rs 127.35. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 126.85 (at 12:23 hours).


Aluminium futures slide on diminishing demand

ALUMINIUM: DOWN TREND
Aluminium futures were trading lower during the noon trade in the domestic market on Monday as participants trimmed their positions amidst sluggish physical demand for aluminium in the domestic spot market.
Further, a fall in demand for aluminium at the domestic spot market was led by cut down of positions by participants in the spot markets, influenced aluminium prices at futures trade.
At the MCX, aluminium futures for September 2016 contract is trading at Rs 108.35 per kg, down by 0.32 per cent, after opening at Rs 108.10, against a previous close of Rs 108.70. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 108 (at 12:18 hours).

Sluggish demand drags down nickel futures by 1.32%

NICKEL: DOWN TREND
Nickel futures were trading lower during the noon trade in the domestic market on Monday as investors and speculators trimmed their bets amid muted physical demand from alloy-makers at the domestic spot market.
Further, a slide in domestic demand from alloy-makers at the spot markets, influenced the downtrend in nickel prices at futures trade. At the MCX, nickel futures for September 2016 contract is trading at Rs 697 per kg, down by 1.32 per cent, after opening at Rs 705, against a previous close of Rs 706.30. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 696.30 (at 12:09 hours).


Mentha oil futures rise 0.38% on spot demand

MENTHAOIL: UPTREND
Mentha oil futures were trading higher during the morning trade in the domestic market on Monday as participants widened their positions in the agri-commodity amid a rise in physical demand for mentha oil from major consuming industries in the domestic spot market.
Further, the creation of fresh bets by traders in the spot market due to a surge in demand for mentha oil from consuming industries in the spot market against tight stocks position on restricted supplies from producing regions, helped mentha oil prices to trade higher at futures trade.
At the MCX, mentha oil futures for September 2016 contract were trading at Rs 880.60 per kg, up by 0.38 per cent after opening at Rs 878.30, against the previous closing price of Rs 877.30. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 881.70 (at 11:58 hours).

Muted demand drags down cardamom futures by 0.61%

CARDAMOM: DOWN TREND
Cardamom futures were trading lower during the morning trade in the domestic market on Monday as investors and speculators remained on the sidelines in the agri-commodity amid muted physical demand for cardamom in the domestic spot market. Further, sufficient supplies amid higher physical arrivals from the major cardamom producing regions, too influenced the downtrend in the domestic cardamom prices. At the MCX, cardamom futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 1,122 per kg, down by 0.61 per cent, after opening at Rs 1,119, against a previous close of Rs 1,128.90. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 1,115 (at 11:55 hours).

Oil higher as output talks eyed

CRUDEOIL: DOWN TREND
Crude oil futures rose during late morning trade in the domestic market on Monday as investors and speculators booked fresh positions in the energy commodity ahead of a meeting between major oil producers this week to discuss possible output curbs in a bid to help ease a global supply glut and support prices.
Algerian Energy Minister reportedly said that Saudi Arabia, the world’s leading crude exporter, is ready to slash output to January levels in a bid to convince other top producers to agree slashing production in Algeria this week.
Marking the twelfth increase in 13 weeks, the US oil drilling count climbed by 2 to 418 last week.
At the MCX, crude oil futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 3,002 per barrel, up by 0.81 per cent, after opening at Rs 2,996, against a previous close of Rs 2,978. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 3,004. (At 11:13 AM).

Zinc futures slide on weak demand

ZINC: DOWN TREND
Zinc futures were trading lower during the morning trade in the domestic market on Monday as investors and speculators trimmed their positions amid a fall in demand from consuming industries at the domestic spot markets.
At the MCX, zinc futures for September 2016 contract is trading at Rs 150.75 per kg, drop by 0.46 per cent, after opening at Rs 151.05, against a previous close of Rs 151.45. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 150.55 (at 10:42 hours).

Cardamom futures drop 0.80% on tepid demand

CARDAMOM: DOWN TREND
Cardamom futures were trading lower during the afternoon trade in the domestic market on Friday as participants reduced their positions in the agri-commodity amid sluggish physical demand for cardamom in the domestic spot market. Further, sufficient supplies amid higher physical arrivals from the major cardamom producing regions, too influenced the downtrend in the domestic cardamom prices. At the MCX, cardamom futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 1,125.40 per kg, down by 0.80 per cent, after opening at Rs 1,135.20, against a previous close of Rs 1,134.50. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 1,125.10 (at 14:03 hours).


Silver loses sheen on profit-booking, weak global cues

SILVER: DOWN TREND
Silver futures were trading lower during the afternoon trade in the domestic market on Friday as investors and speculators trimmed their positions in the precious metals at the domestic spot markets.
The prices for silver decline at futures trade due to a weak trend in the precious metals overseas and profit-booking by participants at existing levels.
At the MCX, silver futures for December 2016 contract is trading at Rs 47,150 per kg, down by 0.88 per cent, after opening at Rs 47,289, against a previous close of Rs 47,568. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 47,060 (at 13:52 hours).

Copper futures little change on muted demand

COPPER: UPTREND
Copper futures were little changed during the noon trade in the domestic market on Friday as participants remained on the sidelines in the industrial metal on low demand from consuming industries in the domestic spot markets. Besides, a slide in demand from consuming industries at the spot market, mainly influenced copper prices at futures trade.
At the MCX, copper futures for November 2016 contract is trading at Rs 326.70 per kg, down by 0.02 per cent, after opening at Rs 326.25, against a previous close of Rs 326.75. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 325.60 (at 12:30 hours).

Crude oil futures in reverse gear on technical sell-off

CRUDEOIL: UPTREND
Crude oil futures were trading lower during the noon trade in the domestic market on Friday as investors and speculators trimmed their positions due to a technical sell-off following 2 sessions of strong gains and on caution ahead of OPEC ministers’ meeting next week in Algeria to dicuss possible production co-operation to rein in global oversupply.
The crude oil prices also fell due to a rise in crude supplies, with global production already exceeding consumption almost without interruption since mid-2014.
At the MCX, crude oil futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 3,076 per barrel, down by 0.81 per cent, after opening at Rs 3,090, against a previous close of Rs 3,101. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 3,065 (at 12:16 hours).
