Zinc bears in control

Zinc futures fell during noon trade in the domestic market on Monday as investors and speculators exit positions in the industrial metal amid weak physical demand for zinc in the domestic spot market.
At the MCX, zinc futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 150.40 per kg, down by 0.07 per cent, after opening at Rs 150.70, against a previous close of Rs 150.50. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 150.35 (at 12:54 PM).

Lead advances driven by firm demand

Lead futures rose during the afternoon trade in the domestic market on Monday amid a firming trend at the spot market on rising demand from battery makers. Furthermore, a firming trend in base metals overseas supported the upside in metal prices. According to market analysts, rising demand from battery makers at spot markets and strength in base metals at the London Metal Exchange helped lead futures trade higher.
At the MCX, lead futures for October 2016 contract was trading at Rs 133.40 per kg, up by 0.34 per cent, after opening at Rs 133.80, against a previous close of Rs 132.95. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 133.80 (at 12:22 hrs).

Silver bulls rule the roost

Silver futures jumped during late morning trade in the domestic market on Monday after participants raised their bets amid firming global trends. Analysts attributed the rise in silver prices at futures trade to a firming trend in the precious metals overseas. At the MCX, silver futures for December 2016 contract was trading at Rs 41,861 per kg, up by 0.10 per cent, after opening at Rs 41,826, against a previous close of Rs 41,821. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 41,921 (At 11:44 hrs).
