Subdued demand drags down nickel futures

Nickel futures were trading lower during the morning trade in the domestic market on Monday as investors and speculators exited their positions in the industrial metal amid muted physical demand for nickel from major consuming industries in the domestic spot market. The prices of nickel fell due to trimming of positions by participants in the industrial metal on account of slide in spot demand in the domestic spot market.
At the MCX, nickel futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 697.60 per kg, down by 0.04 per cent, after opening at Rs 698.50, against a previous close of Rs 697.90. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 697.20 (at 11:15 hours).

Mentha oil futures gain on rising demand

Mentha oil futures were trading higher during the morning trade in the domestic market on Monday as participants build up fresh positions in the agri-commodity amid pick up in physical demand for mentha oil from major consuming industries in the domestic spot market.
At the MCX, mentha oil futures for October 2016 contract were trading at Rs 916.80 per kg, up by 1.13 per cent after opening at Rs 904.90, against the previous closing price of Rs 904.70. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 916.80 (at 11:13 hours).

Cardamom futures up 1% on pickup in demand

Cardamom futures were trading higher during the morning trade in the domestic market on Monday as investors and speculators build up fresh positions in the agri-commodity amid uptick in physical demand for cardamom in the domestic spot market. Further, insufficient supplies on restricted physical arrivals from the major cardamom producing regions, too supported the uptrend in the domestic cardamom prices.
At the MCX, cardamom futures for November 2016 contract is trading at Rs 1138.90 per kg, up by 1 per cent, after opening at Rs 1135.10, against a previous close of Rs 1127.60. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 1144 (at 11:09 hours).
