Crude oil down as U.S. crude supplies dip

Crude oil futures were trading lower in the domestic market on Friday after data showed an unexpected weekly drop in U.S. crude supplies and optimism surrounding the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting countries’ plan to limit output lifted prices in New York to their highest level since mid-July of last year.
Many market watchers aren’t enthused by the deal, saying the group’s longstanding internal tensions will make it difficult for all members to be on board. Even if a deal is struck, it remains a question if the members would obey to the production quotas.
At the MCX, crude oil futures for November 2016 contract were trading at Rs 3394 per barrel, down by 0.15 per cent, after opening at Rs 3390, against a previous close of Rs 3399. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 3376.(at 11:55 hrs)

Lead futures up on spot demand

Lead futures were trading higher during the morning trade in the domestic market on Friday on rising demand from battery makers. Furthermore, a firming trend in base metals overseas supported the upside in metal prices.
At the MCX, lead futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 134.70 per kg, up by 0.26 per cent, after opening at Rs 134.60, against a previous close of Rs 134.35. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 135.20 (at 11:17 hours).


Aluminium futures up on spot demand

Aluminium futures were trading higher during the morning trade in the domestic market on Friday as speculators built up fresh positions on uptick in demand from consuming industries in the spot market. Analysts said fresh positions created by participants following pickup in demand from consuming industries in the spot market, mainly influenced aluminium prices at futures trade.
At the MCX, aluminium futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 108.15 per kg, up by 0.42 per cent, after opening at Rs 108.20, against a previous close of Rs 107.70. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 108.25 (at 11:10 hours).

Muted demand drags down cardamom futures

Cardamom futures were trading lower during the morning trade in the domestic market on Friday as traders trimmed their position, tracking easing demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position.
Analysts said offloading of positions by participants owing to slackened demand in the spot market against sufficient stocks position on increased supplies from producing regions mainly led to the decline in cardamom prices at futures trade.
At the MCX, cardamom futures for November 2016 contract is trading at Rs 1174 per kg, down by 0.46 per cent, after opening at Rs 1176.50, against a previous close of Rs 1179.40. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 1168.10 (at 11:07 hours).


Mentha oil futures up by 0.10%

Mentha oil futures were trading higher during the morning trade in the domestic market on Friday as participants indulged in enlarging their positions, supported by increased demand from consuming industries at spot market.
Analysts said building of positions by traders amid strong demand from consuming industries at the spot market against restricted supplies from Chandausi, mainly kept mentha oil prices higher at futures trade.
At the MCX, mentha oil futures for October 2016 contract were trading at Rs 912.10 per kg, up by 0.10 per cent after opening at Rs 912.90, against the previous closing price of Rs 911.20. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 913.50 (at 11:06 hours).
