Zinc futures fall on subdued demand

Zinc futures were trading lower during the morning trade in the domestic market on Thursday as investors and speculators trimmed their positions in the industrial metal amid a fall in demand from consuming industries at the domestic spot markets. Further, participants cut down their bets in the industrial metal due to a slide in demand from consuming industries, influenced prices of zinc at futures trade. At the MCX, zinc futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 155.75 per kg, down by 0.16 per cent, after opening at Rs 155.90, against a previous close of Rs 156. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 155.65 (at 10:57 hours).

Cardamom futures were trading higher during the morning trade in the domestic market on Thursday as investors and speculators build up fresh positions in the agri-commodity amid pick up in physical demand for cardamom in the domestic spot market. Further, insufficient supplies amid restricted physical arrivals from the major cardamom producing regions, too supported the uptrend in the domestic cardamom prices. At the MCX, cardamom futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 1141.90 per kg, up by 1.66 per cent, after opening at Rs 1142, against a previous close of Rs 1123.20. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 1142 (at 10:45 hours).

Muted demand drags down mentha oil futures by 0.12%

Mentha oil futures were trading lower during the morning trade in the domestic market on Thursday as participants remained on the sidelines in the agri-commodity amid muted physical demand for mentha oil from major consuming industries in the domestic spot market. Further, trimming of positions by traders in the spot market due to a slide in demand for mentha oil from consuming industries at the domestic spot market against sufficient stocks position on higher supplies from producing regions, influenced mentha oil prices at futures trade. At the MCX, mentha oil futures for October 2016 contract were trading at Rs 856.70 per kg, down by 0.12 per cent after opening at Rs 861.70, against the previous closing price of Rs 857.70. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 852.60 (at 10:45 hours).

Crude oil up as US crude stockpile drop

Crude oil futures closed higher in the domestic market on Wednesday after U.S. government data showed that crude stockpiles fell unexpectedly, for a fifth-straight week. Crude-oil inventories have declined for five weeks in a row and each of those weekly declines came as a surprise to market analysts. Oil strategists have been consistently forecasting increases for each of those weeks. At the MCX, crude oil futures for October 2016 contract closed at Rs 3324 per barrel, up by 1.81 per cent, after opening at Rs 3270, against a previous close of Rs 3265. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 3330.
