Pickup in demand lifts lead futures by 0.32%

Lead futures were trading higher during the morning trade in the domestic market on Tuesday as participants widened their positions in the industrial metal due to an increase in physical demand for lead, from battery-makers, in the domestic spot market and amidst signs of stabilisation in China's economy. Further, an uptick in demand from battery-makers in the domestic spot market amid signs of stabilisation in China's economy, supported the prices of lead at the domestic spot markets. At the MCX, lead futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 139.60 per kg, up by 0.32 per cent, after opening at Rs 139.90, against a previous close of Rs 139.15. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 139.90 (at 11:02 hours).

Aluminium futures flat on muted demand

Aluminium futures were flat during the morning trade in the domestic market on Tuesday as participants remained on the sidelines amidst muted physical demand for aluminium in the domestic spot market. Further, sluggish demand for aluminium at the domestic spot market was led by exiting of positions by participants in the spot markets, influenced aluminium prices at futures trade. At the MCX, aluminium futures for October 2016 contract is trading flat at Rs 111.25 per kg after opening at Rs 111.15, against a previous close of Rs 111.25. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 111.05 (at 10:55 hours).

Uptick in demand lifts zinc futures by 0.13%

Zinc futures were trading higher during the morning trade in the domestic market on Tuesday as investors and speculators widened their positions in the industrial metal amid a surge in demand from consuming industries at the domestic spot markets. Further, participants build up fresh positions in the industrial metal due to a rise in demand from consuming industries, supported prices of zinc at futures trade. At the MCX, zinc futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 160.20 per kg, up by 0.13 per cent, after opening at Rs 159.85, against a previous close of Rs 160. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 160.20 (at 10:52 hours).

Mentha oil futures rise 0.87% on spot demand

Mentha oil futures were trading higher during the morning trade in the domestic market on Tuesday as participants build up fresh positions in the agri-commodity amid spot physical demand for mentha oil from major consuming industries in the domestic spot market. Further, building up of fresh positions by traders in the spot market due to a rise in demand for mentha oil from consuming industries at the domestic spot market against insufficient stocks position on restricted supplies from producing regions, supported mentha oil prices at futures trade. At the MCX, mentha oil futures for October 2016 contract were trading at Rs 881.80 per kg, up by 0.87 per cent after opening at Rs 881.90, against the previous closing price of Rs 874.20. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 886.20 (at 10:44 hours).

Cardamom futures slide on muted demand

Cardamom futures were trading lower during the morning trade in the domestic market on Tuesday as investors and speculators remained on the sidelines in the agri-commodity amid muted physical demand for cardamom in the domestic spot market. Further, sufficient supplies amid higher physical arrivals from the major cardamom producing regions, too influenced the downtrend in the domestic cardamom prices. At the MCX, cardamom futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 1,149.60 per kg, down by 0.51 per cent, after opening at Rs 1,153.90, against a previous close of Rs 1,155.50. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 1,149.60 (at 10:40 hours).
