At the MCX, crude oil futures for October 2016 contract closed at Rs 3248 per barrel, up by 1.12 per cent, after opening at Rs 3202, against a previous close of Rs 3212. Gold dips on strong US dollar

The British pound took a hit from news that the U.K. aimed for a clear break from the European Union and data on U.S. manufacturing was somewhat upbeat, helping to support the greenback—weighing on prices for gold, which is traded in the dollar. At the MCX, gold futures for October 2016 contract ended at Rs 30,583 per 10 grams, down by 0.52 per cent, after opening at Rs 30,732, against a previous close of Rs 30,742.
