Subdued demand drags down cardamom futures by 0.99%

Cardamom futures were trading lower during the evening trade in the domestic market on Wednesday as investors and speculators trimmed their bets in the agri-commodity amid a fall in physical demand for cardamom in the domestic spot market. Further, sufficient supplies amid higher physical arrivals from the major cardamom producing regions, too influenced the downtrend in the domestic cardamom prices. At the MCX, cardamom futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 1,120.30 per kg, down by 0.99 per cent, after opening at Rs 1128, against a previous close of Rs 1131.50. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 1120.30 (at 17:15 hours).

Crude oil zooms on possible US inventory drop

Crude oil futures were trading higher during the evening trade in the domestic market on Wednesday as investors and speculators widened their positions in the energy commodity after an industry report showed that the US inventories probably fell for a 5th straight week and OPEC's agreement to trim supply.
The American Petroleum Institute (API) on Tuesday said that the US crude inventories fell 7.6 million barrels, which would be the 5th straight weekly drop if confirmed by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) data on Wednesday. At the MCX, crude oil futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 3,297 per barrel, up by 0.98 per cent, after opening at Rs 3,270, against a previous close of Rs 3,265. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 3,306 (at 17:03 hours).

Copper futures little changed as demand picks up

Copper futures were little changed during the evening trade in the domestic market on Wednesday as participants indulged in building up fresh positions in the industrial metal amid an increase in physical demand for copper in the domestic spot market. However, holidays in China muted trade, and influenced copper prices at domestic spot market.
At the MCX, copper futures for November 2016 contract is trading at Rs 322.25 per kg, up by 0.02 per cent, after opening at Rs 322.95, against a previous close of Rs 322.20. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 323.20 (at 16:04 hours).

White metal flat on muted demand

Silver futures were trading flat during the evening trade in the domestic market on Wednesday as investors and speculators remained on the sidelines in the precious metals amid muted physical demand at the domestic market.
Further, trimming of positions by participants on sluggish demand for silver at the domestic spot market dragged silver futures.
At the MCX, silver futures for December 2016 contract is trading flat at Rs 42,879 per kg after opening at Rs 42950, against a previous close of Rs 42881. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 42740 (at 15:56 hours).
