Sluggish demand drags down aluminium futures by 0.27%

Aluminium futures were trading lower during the morning trade in the domestic market on Thursday as participants cut down their positions in the industrial metal amidst subdued physical demand for aluminium in the domestic spot market. Further, a decrease in demand for aluminium at the domestic spot market was due to trimming of positions by investors in the spot markets, influenced aluminium prices at futures trade. At the MCX, aluminium futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 111.65 per kg, down by 0.27 per cent, after opening at Rs 111.95, against a previous close of Rs 111.95. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 111.65 (at 10:55 hours).

Zinc futures slide on subdued demand

Zinc futures were trading lower during the morning trade in the domestic market on Thursday as investors and speculators trimmed their bets in the industrial metal amid a fall in demand from consuming industries at the domestic spot markets. Further, participants cut down their positions in the industrial metal due to sluggish demand from consuming industries, influenced prices of zinc at futures trade. At the MCX, zinc futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 150.55 per kg, down by 0.23 per cent, after opening at Rs 150.60, against a previous close of Rs 150.90. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 150.40 (at 10:43 hours).

Muted demand drags down nickel futures by 1.33%

Nickel futures were trading lower during the morning trade in the domestic market on Thursday as investors and speculators exited their positions in the industrial metal amid muted physical demand for nickel from major consuming industries in the domestic spot market. The prices of nickel fell due to trimming of positions by participants in the industrial metal on account of slide in spot demand in the domestic spot market. At the MCX, nickel futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 697.20 per kg, down by 1.33 per cent, after opening at Rs 702.20, against a previous close of Rs 706.60. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 696.80 (at 10:30 hours).

Mentha oil futures gain on upsurge in demand

Mentha oil futures were trading higher during the morning trade in the domestic market on Thursday as participants build up fresh positions in the agri-commodity amid pick up in physical demand for mentha oil from major consuming industries in the domestic spot market. Further, widening of positions by traders in the spot market led by a rise in demand for mentha oil from consuming industries at the domestic spot market against insufficient stocks position on restricted supplies from producing regions, supported mentha oil prices at futures trade. At the MCX, mentha oil futures for October 2016 contract were trading at Rs 872.40 per kg, up by 0.32 per cent after opening at Rs 870.10, against the previous closing price of Rs 869.60. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 874.10 (at 10:26 hours).

Cardamom futures zoom 2.29% as demand picks up

Cardamom futures were trading higher during the morning trade in the domestic market on Thursday as investors and speculators build up fresh positions in the agri-commodity amid uptick in physical demand for cardamom in the domestic spot market. Further, insufficient supplies on restricted physical arrivals from the major cardamom producing regions, too supported the uptrend in the domestic cardamom prices. At the MCX, cardamom futures for October 2016 contract is trading at Rs 1185 per kg, up by 2.29 per cent, after opening at Rs 1170, against a previous close of Rs 1158.50. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 1185 (at 10:23 hours).
