Muted physical demand bites aluminium futures
31/05/2017

Aluminium futures were little changed during morning trade in the domestic market on Wednesday as investors and speculators remained on the sidelines in the industrial metal amid muted physical demand for aluminium at the domestic spot market.
Further, a fall in physical demand for aluminium at the domestic spot market was due to trimming of positions by traders in the spot markets, influenced aluminium prices at futures trade.
At the MCX, aluminium futures for May 2017 contract is trading at Rs 124.20 per kg, down by 0.08 per cent, after opening at Rs 124.30, against a previous close of Rs 124.30. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 124.15 (at 10:45 hours).

Uptick in demand lifts cardamom futures by 2.35%
31/05/2017

Cardamom futures jumped over 2 per cent during morning trade in the domestic market on Wednesday as investors and speculators extended their bets in the agri-commodity amid surge in physical demand for cardamom in the domestic spot market. Further, insufficient supplies on restricted physical arrivals from the major cardamom producing regions, supported the upward trend in the domestic cardamom prices. At the MCX, cardamom futures for June 2017 contract is trading at Rs 959 per kg, up by 2.35 per cent, after opening at Rs 940, against a previous close of Rs 937. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 959 (at 10:34 hours).

Gold dips as investors eye US employment data

Gold futures closed lower in the domestic market on Tuesday as investors looked ahead to a key U.S. employment reading due late this week.
The gold prices have been held in a narrowing trading pattern for some while now and are waiting for some news to come out that prods the gold and silver prices into a strong move.
Higher interest rates tend to be dollar-supportive, cutting demand for dollar-priced gold for investors using other currencies. Higher rates also weigh on demand for gold, which doesn’t bear interest, in favor of yield-bearing investments.
At the MCX, gold futures for June 2017 contract ended at Rs 28719 per 10 grams, down by 0.63 per cent, after opening at Rs 28,949 against a previous close of Rs 28,900. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 28,712.
